Support the Hampstead Mall Park Revitalization Project
The Eastside Neighborhood, the City of Charleston, and the Charleston Parks Conservancy have worked diligently, completing needed updates to the quadrants of Hampstead Square. The SW quadrant (Philip Simmons) was the first to undergo revitalization, with new plants, sod, irrigation, chess tables, and wi-fi being added. The NE quadrant (Mary Conway) was the second phase of the project, with new plants and sod being added, the fountain being repaired, and the pergola being repaired and painted. All these renovations and updates were possible thanks to the dedicated fundraising efforts of the neighborhood residents. A Community Challenge grant from AARP and the Coastal Community Foundation augmented the effort, awarding a total amount of $14,500. Our hope is that continued contributions will help further the scope of this project and also allow for future park programming and events. With your help, Hampstead Square, the city’s oldest public green space, is being restored.
