Clean Cities Sweep Kicks Off March 20th!

Clean Cities Sweep, part of the Great American Cleanup, kicks off March 20th and runs through mid June. The event is the local “call to action” for the Cities of Charleston and North Charleston. Community groups and school groups are encouraged to plan and host events which help beautify or clean our communities. These events could include things like cleaning litter, spreading mulch, planting flowers and trees, creating pollinator gardens or habitat, building rain gardens, painting neighborhood signage, collecting recyclables, creating public art exhibits, building birdhouses, etc. Keep Charleston Beautiful has limited funding this year to aid in supplies for beautification projects, but please inquire via email (gillettej@charleston-sc.gov) if you have a need for minimal beautification supplies.

New for Clean Cities Sweep 2021, Keep Charleston Beautiful will be launching our DIY Cleanup Kits! Individual and small scale cleanups can have just as big of an impact as large group cleanups on the cleanliness of our communities. Our DIY Cleanup Kits include everything an individual or small family might need need to conduct one-time or routine litter sweeps on the street they live or around their local park.
